Who we are
Asheville Tours & Excursions operates guided Jeep, waterfall and mountain tours in
Asheville, Brevard and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Our
website is ashevilletoursandexcursions.com.
If you have any questions about this policy or about how we handle your information,
call us on (828) 269-3936 or use the contact form on our website.

What we collect
When you book a tour. Bookings are handled by FareHarbor, our reservation
partner. When you book, you provide your name, email address, phone number, the
number of guests, your chosen date and time, and your payment details. Payment card
details go directly to FareHarbor’s payment processor — they are never stored on our
website.
When you contact us. If you fill in our contact form, call us, or email us, we
collect whatever you choose to tell us: typically your name, your contact details,
and the content of your message.
When you visit the site. Like most websites, ours automatically records basic
technical information: your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you
viewed, and the site or search that sent you to us. This is collected through cookies
and similar technologies.
When you leave a review. Reviews shown on our site are pulled from public Google
listings. We do not collect anything extra from you to display them.

Why we collect it
We use your information to:
take, confirm and manage your booking
contact you about your tour, including any changes to weather, timing or meeting point
answer your questions
process payments and issue refunds
keep our tours safe and meet our legal and insurance obligations
understand how people use our website so we can improve it
send you occasional offers or news, but only if you have asked us to
We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.

Who we share it with
We share information only with the parties we need to in order to run the business:
FareHarbor — our booking and payment platform
Our guides — the names and party sizes on their manifest for the day
Payment processors — to take payment securely
Website and analytics providers — including our hosting company and Google
Analytics, which help us keep the site running and understand how it is used
Email and review tools — such as Mailchimp and Trustindex, where relevant
Each of these handles information on our behalf and is expected to protect it. We may
also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to
protect someone’s safety.

Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them to keep the site working
properly, remember your preferences, and measure how the site is used. Third parties
including Google and our booking platform may also set cookies through our site.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site,
including booking, may not work correctly if you do.

How long we keep it
We keep booking records for as long as we need them for accounting, tax and insurance
purposes — normally seven years. Contact form messages are kept while we deal with
your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards. Marketing contacts are kept until
you unsubscribe.

Your choices
You can:
unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email
ask what we hold about you, and ask for a copy
ask us to correct anything that is wrong
ask us to delete your information, where we are not legally required to keep it
opt out of analytics cookies through your browser settings
To make any of these requests, call (828) 269-3936 or use our contact form. We will
respond within 30 days. We may need to verify who you are before we act.
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California
Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we
collect, the right to delete it, and the right not to be discriminated against for
exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information.

Children
Our tours are open to children aged 5 and up when accompanied by an adult, but our
website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal
information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us their
information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted
connections across our website and booking platform. No system is completely secure,
so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take the responsibility seriously.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “last
updated” date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.

Note for Tyler: this is a plain-English starting draft, not legal advice — I’m not a
lawyer. Before it goes live, have the client confirm three things: (1) which analytics
and marketing tools are actually running, since I listed the plugins installed on the
site rather than confirmed usage; (2) the seven-year record retention figure, which is
a common default but should match their accountant’s guidance; and (3) whether they
need anything beyond CCPA — if they take bookings from EU or UK visitors, GDPR adds
requirements this draft doesn’t cover.
